What you saw last night was the difference between a super bowl team and a playoff team.
To say that the Saints are more talented than the Vikings would be incorrect. But what the Saints do have, is a coach who is not afraid to lose. Sean Payton believes in his team and takes risks that, if do not work, will get him criticized afterwards. But he doesn't care. He is an aggressive coach and his team feeds into that. As Herm Edwards would say "he plaaaays to win the gaaaame!".
Brad Childress on the other hand, is a joke. He has balls smaller than my little sister. With 5 minutes to go, he chose to punt the ball on 4th down. Yes, I know it was a long ways to go and i also know that he was playing field position. The right play was to punt and hope that your defense holds them. But this was against the Saints in the same building that you walked off the field beaten months ago. On opening night. National TV. Why not send the message right there to the his own team, to the Saints and the rest of the league. Nope. Not Brad. Had to go with the percentage play. The defense folds and we are left with a loss. How is that better?
The Vikings will not win a Super Bowl with him as their coach. Can you imagine him on that kind of stage? Would he have the BALLS to call for an onside kick to open the second half against the Super Bowl champs?? No way. Thought would have never even crossed his mind. And that is why we are destined to be 9-7 and lose in the first round.
It is going to be a long season.
